Mallorca Blog - Travelogues with tips & highlights

Mallorca shines with its great beaches and lots of sun. No wonder that the Balearic island is considered the most popular island among Germans. Here you will find all our travel reports for Mallorca and the capital Palma de Mallorca as well as all the highlights.

Traveling to Palma de Mallorca with your furry friend? Don't worry! We have the perfect pet-friendly accommodations that will ensure both you and your pet have a memorable and comfortable stay.

Best time to visit Mallorca

After several visits to the island, we suggest avoiding the high season (July - August).

For us, the months of April to June and mid-September to the end of October are the best time to travel. Then the temperatures are still pleasantly warm and the rush of visitors is still bearable. In April and May it can be quite windy at times. However, we were able to use the pool of our finca at any time without freezing to death.

The months of January to March are very popular for almond blossom travel.

Our recommendation for the best Mallorca travel guides

  • A great hiking guide is Rother Mallorca: The most beautiful coastal and mountain hikes with 77 tours including GPS tracks.

  • One of our favourite travel guides is always the Dumont Bildatlas Mallorca. This beautifully designed travel guide brings together almost everything you need to know and also includes maps and stories about the Balearic island.

  • I also really liked the travel pocketbook Mallorca. The great and simple layout is convincing. The guide also contains tips off the well-known main routes.

Short facts about Mallorca:

  • Mallorca is often flippantly referred to as Germany's 17th federal state. In fact, Mallorca is a Spanish island. The official language is Spanish. German is not spoken and English is rarely spoken.

  • Mallorca is one of the autonomous Spanish Balearic Islands and lies in the Mediterranean Sea.

  • The island's capital is Palma de Mallorca, which has a population of about 1,000.

  • Although the Balearic island is completely surrounded by water, it does not have a single source of fresh water. You won't find any rivers or natural lakes on the island.

  • With the almost 90 km long and mostly over 1000 m high Serra de Tramuntana, Mallorca has a real mountain range. It is particularly popular with hikers and racing cyclists.

  • Every bathing holidaymaker lightens the beach by up to 30 grams of sand per visit due to leftovers in their swimming trunks or towels. This adds up to around 82 tonnes of sand at the Platja de Palma in a peak season (approx. 3 months).

  • The most famous personality on Mallorca is probably Rafael Nadal . The tennis pro was ennobled in 2016 with the opening of his own museum. If you think this museum is only about tennis, you are mistaken. A visit for sports enthusiasts is well worth it.

Where is Mallorca actually located?

The island of Mallorca belongs to the Balearic Islands. It lies in the Mediterranean Sea, east of the Spanish mainland. The highest elevation is the Puig Major at 1,436 m.

Tip for saving money: Mallorca Pass

During our visit to Mallorca we had the Turbo Pass for Mallorca (also called Mallorca Pass) with us. The pass is a kind of sightseeing pass. The advantage?

You only pay for the pass once and can visit many attractions on site without having to pay admission again. You can easily order the pass from home before your trip. Once you have bought the Mallorca Pass, you have a quasi flat rate for entrance fees.

This means you don't have to think about whether your budget can cope with an additional entrance fee and, from experience, you'll see more. Simply present your Turbopass at the ticket counter and receive free admission tickets.

Explore Palma de Mallorca with Your Pet

Palma de Mallorca offers numerous pet-friendly parks, beaches, and outdoor spaces where you and your pet can enjoy quality time together. Take leisurely strolls along the coast, explore the historic streets, and savor the vibrant atmosphere of this beautiful city.

Accommodation for Mallorca

There can only be one answer to this from us. The best place is in the centre around Inca. Why? No matter which place we entered into our navigation system, the driving time was always an hour. So if you want to visit destinations all over the island, Inca is the right place to go.

If you don't want to hire a car, the coast around Palma is a good place to be. There are regular buses that will get you back to the airport quickly.

Where to stay: Finca or hotel?

There are many nice hotels on Mallorca, don't worry, the days of concrete bunkers are over. If you want to treat yourself to something special outside Palma, we recommend the Lindner Golf Resort Portals Nous only a short distance from Puerto Portals.

Hotel tip: The Lindner Golf Resort Portals Nous.

Non-golfers are also very welcome here. Hannah spent a few nights here in spring and didn't want to leave. The proximity to Palma and yet tranquillity away from the hustle and bustle make the Lindner perfect for a holiday, even with the family.

For those who prefer to retreat completely, we recommend considering a finca. You have your own domicile, away from the stress of the cities and usually with your own pool. We would book our finca for 6 people with pool and barbecue area again any time.

You get a private pool and a garden with BBQ in a private finca.
