Belarus and Women

So... I'll make it quick because my experience was quite an adventure and I wouldn't want to bore you.

We set off with six people to Minsk where we met a friend who was getting married there to a Belarusian woman...

Belarus is a country of two faces: on one side, a nation that still carries the marks of the former U.S.S.R., offering very little in terms of landscapes and especially cities... Minsk has 2 million inhabitants, but once you step out of the center (and there's still very little to see), it's rather bleak... As tourists, going there feels like the end of the world... With just a few euros, you can spend your days shopping in the few Western stores, having lunch and dinner out, going to the sauna, and hitting the clubs at night since 'THERE'S AN EXAGGERATED NIGHTLIFE... In short, for a getaway, Minsk is a paradise, and being tourists, we can live like kings with more money...

I was very surprised by this duality of a country still anchored to painful situations, but with a youth that is truly advanced in every sense; they dress more fashionably than we do and are comparable to the Dutch in terms of openness, etc...

The women are a spectacle; it seems like they are the only ones around-jokingly, there's a ratio of 20 to 1 that becomes 100 to 1 in the clubs at night... Now many of you might think it works like in all other Eastern countries, like Prague, where you pay and flirt... Here, it's important to keep in mind that those who go out (to restaurants and clubs) are those who can afford it, so they are not at all looking for your money...(it's crazy scenes like us six in the club surrounded by 300 beautiful girls, or 10 guys in a restaurant surrounded by tables and tables of women alone) the fact is these girls have never been courted, no matter how beautiful they are, given the guys they have, so just being sweet is enough to make them fall in love...

In summary, Belarus offers very little, so I definitely do not recommend it for a trip...(if you want to travel maybe to Gomel or Mogilev, forget it; they are infinitely sad) but if you happen to be there for work (many foreigners are arriving) or perhaps for some adoption programs (there are plenty of them), well, know that you can have fun at night in Minsk....
